JAMMU: In a shocking incident, a class 5 student of Army School, Kaluchak was on Monday allegedly kidnapped by some unidentified men in Kaluchak area of Bari Brahmana, district Samba.
Confirming the incident, police said a complaint was lodged by a retired (Captain) Army man namely Joginder Sharma that his son, Anirudh Sharma studying in Class 5 of Army School, Kaluchak has been kidnapped by some unidentified men while he was returning from the school. He said some passersby also saw the boy being kidnapped in a red coloured van.
“In exchange for him, the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs one Crore on telephone,” police said as told by the father.
Following the complaint, police has registered an FIR and started investigations. Police, however, added that four police teams led by SDPO DySP Sunil Kesar have been constituted and rushed to Punjab, Delhi, Kashmir and Jammu.
Meanwhile, police is also ascertaining the identity of the kidnappers by scrutinising call details of Joginder Sharma. An alert has also been sounded in all the respective police stations. Besides, police has also flashed the details of the kidnapped boy to police checkpoints in Punjab.
“There are reports that the complainant had verbal duel with someone in Delhi. He has reportedly been detained by one of the police teams, rushed to the national capital,” sources added.
They further said that the father had conversation with the kidnappers while the police has kept surveillance on the family as well, adding, “The reason behind kidnapping, as per the complainant is not known as he claimed that he has no rivalry with anyone.”
Sources added that while analyzing the call details, two persons–one army personnel and another from Punjab have come on the police scanner. The picture of the abducted boy has been released for public assistance.
